Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division is privileged to lead a group of world class services at Otago University, dedicated to promoting the unique Otago experience and collegiate nature of the institution.

College Catering is a large food service operation producing over 8500 meals per day to eleven University Colleges.

The role | Te mahi

We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to work in our busy Te Rangihiroa food service team.

This position is responsible for the Kitchen Assistant duties, making sure they are well maintained to the appropriate levels of cleanliness and dishes are cleaned in a timely manner, in accordance with our HACCP program. Other duties include meal service and some food preparation.

This is a permanent, full-time, semester time only position (February to November), located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, as per roster. With the position commencing in February 2026.

The appointment range is $26.43 to $27.48 per hour.

The University offers catering staff summer maintenance work as a Trades Assistant to those staff seeking employment outside of the academic year (November to February).

While this position will commence in the Te Rangihiroa College, if there is a need, this position may be relocated to another University College on the Dunedin campus.
