Position Summary

The Information Technologies Application Development team is seeking a creative and detail-oriented student to support its digital communications and outreach efforts. This position focuses on graphic design and website content management and is ideal for students interested in visual design, web development, digital accessibility, and marketing communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce engaging visual content for digital and print platforms, including promotional materials, signage, and social media.
  • Maintain and update department websites and digital platforms to ensure content is accurate, current, and accessible.
  • Assist with clerical and administrative tasks such as data entry, document formatting, and general office support.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count)
  • If Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

In addition, applicants must possess:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Organized, thorough, and detail-oriented
  • Solid MS Word skills
  • Not afraid of technology, able to teach yourself how to use new applications, able to figure things out, and not afraid to ask questions when you can’t.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to occasional changes in assignments and priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • As demonstrated by supporting documentation (cover letter, resume, writing sample, etc.), the ideal candidate will possess experience in the following areas:
  • Background or coursework in graphic design, digital media, or web development.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Cascade) and basic HTML/CSS.
  • Familiarity with Accessibility WCAG 2.2 AA Compliance.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professional demeanor and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
