Position Summary

Supports the strategic fundraising efforts of the University of New Mexico athletics department and the Lobo Club by assisting with the planning, development, and implementation of fundraising programs targeting donors. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to planning and implementing key special events, gift-in-kind program management, marketing and communications, fundraising efforts for the Lobo Scholarship Fund and donor stewardship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with the planning, development and implementation of fundraising projects and programs designed to increase the visibility of the department and enhance giving to the University.
  2. Primarily supports the UNM Lobo Club through Annual Giving by assisting with the operations and fundraising efforts of the Lobo Scholarship Fund.
  3. Under supervision, plans, directs and executes Lobo Club Special Events and activities for donors and prospects, including, but not limited to, the annual Cherry and Silver Scholarship Gala, the annual Lobo Club Golf Tournament, and tailgates. Design, develop, and assess new events that promptly cultivate, engage, recognize and thank Lobo Club members.
  4. Assist with  managing and implementing the Lobo Club Gift-In-Kind Community Partnership Program and thanking, researching, and recruiting community partners. Assist with recording, tracking, and coordinating in-kind donations to the Lobo Club.
  5. Develop creative messaging strategies to engage and inform current and potential Lobo Club members. Create, review, and edit content to advertise the Lobo Club’s mission on top social media platforms.
  6. Drafts and proposes communication and marketing campaigns, and tracks and reports campaign performance. Collaborates with the UNM Athletics marketing and communications team and the UNM Athletics creative team to ensure unity in messaging to the public.
  7. Assists with gameday stewardship and operations.
  8. Interacts with faculty, staff, development colleagues, volunteers, and external constituents to ensure effective coordination of programs, projects, and activities.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

·         Well-versed on the use of top social media platforms.

·         Experience working on social media marketing and an awareness of different social media platforms and the content that should go on each of them.

·         Skill in the planning and execution of large-scale fundraising events.

·         Well-organized and competent in vendor management.

·         Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

·         Database and records management skills.

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

·         Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports and other materials.

·         Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.

·         Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.

·         Ability to plan, organize and coordinate activities and special events.

·         Ability to provide technical coordination and management of development and/or implementation projects in area of expertise.
