About this role

Under the supervision, guidance, and in collaboration with the Director of Student Involvement, the Coordinator of Campus Traditions will contribute to the overall Student Involvement Program on campus through departmental programs, activities advising and student supervision.

The Coordinator will plan and execute campus-wide events, programs, and traditions that enhance the student experience from entry to commencement, promote belonging, campus spirit and community. This position also plans and executes the annual commencement ceremony.

This Coordinator supervises student staff in support of programming and marketing efforts and works in tandem with colleagues in both Student Involvement programs and Student Center operations.
Lastly, this position will support the senior class and their advisors in planning and executing events and programs that build connections, celebrate milestones and ensure a continued connection to the college as alumni.

Duties/Responsibilities

Traditions (60%)

  • Plan, execute and assess Student Involvement traditions including but not limited to the Student Involvement Fair, Flag Raising Ceremony, Celebration of Lights, Winter Celebration, etc.

  • Oversee staff and programming in the Night Owl Café

  • Coordinate Student Involvement’s participation in and support of Orientation and Welcome Days; oversee summer staff in the Student Center

  • Collaborate with campus partners including Athletics, Community Living and Dining to develop new events and programs that grow campus spirit.

  • Collaborate with campus partners including Alumni & Career Services to develop and execute experiences for graduating students to help ensure alumni success and continued connection to the College.

Commencement (25%)

  • Lead the planning and execution of Keene State’s annual Commencement Ceremony including contract review, relationship management, strategy and overall communication

  • Serve as primary point of contact with the Bookstore, Campus Safety, Custodial and Facilities, Keene State Dining, the Registrar and various other campus departments to align and provide services for commencement

  • Create and maintain organization of vendor contracts and documentation; serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors on commencement day

  • Develop and distribute communications to students, families, faculty and staff about commencement preparation and participation

  • Assist with recruitment of student and staff volunteers

  • Work closely with leadership to monitor and manage the events budget and initiatives to ensure they align with available resources.

Student Center (15%)

  • Actively participate in and support overall Student Center management and functions

  • Serve on campus-wide committees in support of the student experience and relevant to Student Center

  • Attend and serve as a Student Center representative during major campus events and key College dates (Move-In Day, Admitted Student Days, Open Houses).

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree and at least 2 years of related experience in student affairs/activities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory

  • Proficient in event planning and risk management

  • Successful experience leading programs for college students

  • Demonstrated knowledge of program assessment and use of learning outcomes

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

  • Work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to respond to and manage change; support others through change.

  • Stays informed about people, processes, policies and related laws.

  • Maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing with a variety of audiences.

  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders across the institution.

  • Be present and dependable on-site to meet the needs of a vibrant, student-centered environment.

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising student employees

  • Experience as a student leader in a recognized student organization as an undergraduate student

  • Experience working with diverse student populations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of student organization management platforms, 25Live event scheduling software.

Compensation Pay Range:

$43,710.00 - $77,920.00
