ABOUT THE JOB 

 

MU Health Care is seeking a compassionate RN to join our Urgent Care team. In this role, you'll provide essential nursing services in a 7-day, 12-hour shift environment. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Provides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient. 

 

Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment. 

 

Demonstrates an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and support person(s) about medications. 

 

Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes. 

 

Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit. 

 

Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the 

appropriate person (i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and 

records those observations accurately and concisely. 

 

Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and 

procedures of the hospital and assigned clinic. 

 

Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. 
 
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. 

 

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during 

inclement weather will be required.
