ABOUT THE JOB
The Pharmacy Technician Coordinator – IV Room Oversight is responsible for the operational oversight, coordination, and optimization of sterile compounding activities within the hospital’s IV room(s). This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient preparation of sterile medications in accordance with USP <797>, USP <800>, applicable state and federal regulations, and organizational policies. By serving as the primary point of accountability for IV room workflows and quality monitoring, the IV Room Coordinator supports medication safety, regulatory readiness, and consistent service delivery to patient care areas.
In addition, this role coordinates and optimizes technician workflows within the IV room. The IV Room Coordinator assists the Designated Person in standardizing compounding processes, supporting staff training and competency, monitoring environmental and process controls, and partnering with pharmacists, quality, and leadership to identify risks and drive continuous improvement. Through centralized oversight of IV room operations, this position reduces variability, minimizes compounding delays and errors, supports pharmacist oversight, and enables pharmacy staff to practice at the top of their license while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant sterile compounding environment.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Engage in the optimization of pharmacy operations and process improvement, focusing on measurable results in the department while collaborating with other departments.
Assist management with developing policies and procedures, staff education and competencies, and regulatory compliance action plans. Create and maintain the pharmacy department schedule.
Manage the schedule by posting shifts, providing recommendations for shift changes, and finding coverage for missing shifts.
Coordinate payroll reconciliation, enter schedule occurrences, and enter other schedule notes in the timekeeping system.
Interview all incoming pharmacy technician staff with Pharmacy department management.
Develop and maintain formalized training/orientation program.
Assist in staff evaluation during onboarding, probationary period, and throughout the year.
Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician and other duties as required.
May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pharmacy Technician licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within one (1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.
One (1) year of pharmacy experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Trainer experience.
Scheduling experience.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
