DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Plans and implements the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of PACS and associated imaging systems. Manages integration processes between PACS and EMR to ensure seamless accessibility of imaging studies within the electronic medical record. Leads planning and execution of departmental projects, ensuring alignment with organizational timelines and strict adherence to budgeted resources. Collaborates with radiologists, technologists, clinical stakeholders, and IT teams to optimize imaging workflows and data exchange. Ensures the execution of system updates, patches, and routine backups for PACS, EMR interfaces, and related systems. Provides high-level technical support, analyzing and resolving PACS system issues and user challenges to maintain system performance and user satisfaction.

 

Monitors compliance with DICOM and HL7 standards to support accurate and efficient imaging data transmission. Coordinates with vendors for system upgrades, issue resolution, and maintenance to ensure service continuity and improvement. Ensures adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory standards concerning data security, privacy, and operational protocols. Delivers training, support, and guidance to clinical and radiology teams to enhance the effective use of imaging systems and workflows. Exercises full authority over personnel actions including hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations in alignment with MU Health Care policies and procedures. Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care. Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor’s degree in IT, healthcare informatics, radiologic technology, or a related field.

 

Five (5) years of combined experience in PACS administration and/or Imaging technology systems leadership with direct PACS responsibility such as configuration, workflow build, vendor coordination, and incident resolution. 


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Certification in PACS administration (e.g., CIIP) , EMR, or health IT systems is strongly preferred. Experience with other imaging systems.

Supervisory experience in a clinical or health IT setting. Experience with PACS administration, integration with Cerner EMR, and a strong background in radiology IT operations. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
