DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Act as liaison between management, health care providers, and support staff to ensure communication between these groups. Instruct and advise support staff on changes in policies, procedures, or working standards.
Assist in the training and orientation of Patient Service Representatives and/or Patient Account Representatives. Perform all aspects of unit-specific tasks to ensure all tasks of the revenue cycle are completed.
Supervise functions of office staff and assist with personnel-related activities including interviewing, hiring, disciplining, and termination process.
Maintain accurate provider schedules in the computer system. Complex decision-making and problem resolution.
Monitor daily workflow and production, adjusting priorities, employee scheduling, and operations as necessary to ensure effective services are being provided. Recommend changes in operation to Clinic management to improve efficiency.
Coordinate the procurement of non-clinical equipment, supplies, and forms necessary to ensure efficient office operations. Create and monitor cash logs, cash received reports, and deposit slips.
Maintain compliance with the cash handling policies of the institution. Ensure patient satisfaction by investigating and responding to patient problems and complaints. Ensure prompt delivery of patient services and other activities, assisting in implementing improvements and enhancements to promote efficient patient flow.
Ensure the success of the referral and pre-certification process.
Monitor registration errors or reported documentation/coding issues and ensure communications between providers and front desk staff. Resolve billing issues of varied complexity.
Oversee and perform accurate daily reconciliation of batched daily work. Oversee the performance of charge capture and payment posting. Provide resources for patient’s financial needs.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.
May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
Four (4) years of experience in customer service; two (2) of the four (4) years of experience must be in a physician’s office, hospital admissions, or revenue cycle. Education may be used in lieu of all experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in business.
Supervisory experience.
Experience in a physician’s office, hospital admissions, or patient accounts.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
