The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Access Representative 1.

The University of Miami Health System has opened the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community.  UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community.   UHealth at Doral has 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy.

The Patient Access department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Access Representative 1 to work on-site in downtown Doral.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs full registration, and ensures that insurance is verified and all patients’ information is correct.
  • Obtains copies of insurance cards, driver’s license, and any applicable referrals.
  • Explains Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients and obtains signed forms.
  • Instructs patients to complete any questionnaires that might be required by physician.
  • Schedules follow-up, cancels, and edits appointments, and records no-show patients accurately.
  • Reconciles all vouchers and delivers them to designated area.
  • Answers telephone calls and responds to questions and inquiries or transfers when appropriate.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
  • Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of relevant experience

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
