Work Shift: 40 hrs. per week M-F, some on calls and weekends may be required

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

  • Participates in direct patient care, and data reporting and collecting, and develops automated storage for reporting cardiovascular information.
  • Directs clinical research through coordination of studies and performance of information retrieval and manuscript preparation.
  • Provides education and in-services to resident, medical students, fellows, and physicians.
  • Meets JCAHO standards by complying with corporate policy and procedures.
  • Promotes teamwork with physicians and all healthcare providers to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and appropriate resource management.
  • Develops operating and capital budgets for the department and monitors established budgets.
  • Maintains and updates policy and procedure manuals for the department.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and evaluates equipment on a periodic basis to provide safe and efficient care and diagnosis for patients.
  • Makes recommendations regarding hire, discipline, and promotion of staff, authorizes leave and overtime, and evaluates employee performance.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of business and management principles
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
