About this role

The University of Maine System at Farmington (UMF) is seeking applicants for a part-time Deputy Title IX Coordinator. This pivotal role serves as the primary point of contact for UMF's Title IX business, ensuring our campus remains a safe, equitable, and compliant environment for students, faculty, and staff.

You will manage the intersection of compliance, case coordination, and campus-wide education. As a key member of the University of Maine System (UMS) Title IX team, you will be a visible advocate and a steady hand for those navigating difficult situations. 

A typical salary for this part-time position is $22,560, commensurate on education and experience. The anticipated schedule will be Tuesday through Friday from 9a - 2p

Job Description
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management & Response: Coordinate campus responses to reported Title IX violations. You will manage cases from inception to resolution, serve as a supportive resource for all parties involved, and coordinate hearings when necessary.
     
  • Education & Training: Act as the lead Title IX trainer for the UMF community. You will develop and deliver impactful training for students, staff, and faculty, and maintain all educational materials on campus.
     
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure UMF meets all federal and state requirements, including Title IX, the Clery Act, and VAWA. You will partner closely with UMF Public Safety and Campus Police to maintain accurate Clery records.
     
  • System Collaboration: Serve as an active member of the broader University of Maine System (UMS) Title IX team, taking on roles such as investigator, hearing officer, or advisor as needed.
     
  • Community Advocate: Attend and support campus events, acting as a visible advocate for those impacted by sexual misconduct and fostering a culture of respect and safety.
 
Required Skills & Core Competencies
  • Deep Knowledge: Familiarity with Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, and FERPA.
     
  • Interpersonal Excellence: The ability to build collegial relationships with students, families, and faculty alike.
     
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to mediate conflict effectively.
     
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver presentations and training to diverse audiences.
     
  • Emotional Intelligence: Proven ability to handle sensitive, “fraught” situations with discretion, resilience, and composure.
     
  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom. Experience with (or ability to quickly learn) Maxient or similar case management software.
     
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
     
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in Title IX compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a related field.
     
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related field.
     
  • Direct experience in crisis management or event planning.
     
  • Prior experience training staff or implementing campus-wide programming.          
     


The University of Maine at Farmington employees are Mandatory Reporters with the exception of UMF’s licensed, clinical medical providers (including athletic trainers) and mental health providers and their clinical interns when working in their capacity as providers.
