About this role

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 80%25 (32 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC North Liberty Pediatrics ClinicThis position will mainly support our Pediatrics Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Our team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care to every patient. When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records.

Summary: 

Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team.  Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 80%25 (32 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No weekends, on-call time, or holiday shifts required.

Location:  North Liberty, IA.  (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Pay Grade: 9

Salary: $40,903.92 - $60,760.80 (at 100%25 time) (based on years of experience)



Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualification/License:

  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Highly Desired Requirements

  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Previous Pediatric Clinic experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and autonomy in all aspects of the role
  • Previous phlebotomy experience
  • Previous immunization experience

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position
