Duties

·         Prepare and maintain operatories and labs using proper infection control.

·         Organize treatment trays, stock and order supplies.

·         Assist chairside by passing instruments, manipulating materials, and supporting anesthesia delivery.

·         Record exam findings and expose, mount, and label digital radiographs.

·         Follow provider instructions during emergencies and perform CPR if needed.

·         Provide dental assisting support across all department clinics and maintain confidentiality.

·         Set up and maintain portable equipment for Geriatric Mobile Unit as needed.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Dental Assistant – GC25 (Merit)

College of Dentistry – Preventive & Community Dentistry

Salary:  $46,604.16 (Pay Grade: 08)

Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm – May require occasional overtime.

An advanced starting salary may be possible based on exceptional qualifications.

                       



MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1.     Successful completion of an CODA accredited dental assistance program or one-year full time equivalency in chairside assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry.

2.     Must have a current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners. (QDA)

3.     Must possess current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography. (QDA)

4.     No additional work experience beyond the requirements for this position.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

·         Experience working with special needs patients and/or those who have medical, psychological, or behavioral health challenges, including the frail elderly

·         Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

·         Experience working with electronic health records
