The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time Interventional Pulmonologist (IP) at the Associate or Professor level to lead the Interventional Pulmonary Program at the University of Colorado. Applicants should have significant experience in interventional pulmonary with strong clinical, procedural and leadership skills. The applicants should also be enthusiastic about teaching fellows and residents within the postdoctoral training programs of the University. The successful candidate will become active members of the Department of Medicine, which fosters collaboration between basic, translational, and clinical researchers. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Directing and growing the Interventional Pulmonary program at CU
  • Procedural responsibilities within the area of interventional pulmonology.
  • Clinical inpatient and outpatient consultations
  • Participate in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners
  • Engage in the academic mission of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division, the Center for Lungs and Breathing and the Department of Medicine 

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Our over 140 faculty are located across four sites: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, National Jewish Health, Denver Health, and the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System.

Many seminal discoveries in pulmonary and critical care medicine occurred here in Denver, including advances in tuberculosis, interstitial lung disease, airway disease, cancer, and critical care. Many of our former trainees have taken leadership roles in academic medicine, including Division and Department Chairs, Deans, and American Thoracic Society Presidents.

 

We continue to enhance all aspects of our division and training program, and as a result, we have seen tremendous and sustained growth. The clinical practice sites have built new hospitals, and there are multiple new research buildings across the campuses. We have been fortunate to recruit tremendous new faculty members while retaining many of our former trainees.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

 

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

 

Assistant Professor:

  • An MD or DO is required

  • Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, and have completed an Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship

  • Scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the School of Medicine 

  • Two – four years experience

Associate Professor:

  • An MD or DO is required
  • Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, and have completed an Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship
  • Scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor level in the School of Medicine 
  • Current or past faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor; minimum 4+ years experience

 

Professor:

  • An MD or DO is required
  • Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology, and have completed an Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship
  • Scholarly and academic record consistent with appointment at the Professor level in the School of Medicine 
  • Current or past faculty position appointment as Associate Professor or Professor; 7+ years experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstration of strong clinical and academic leadership skills
  • The candidate should also demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The candidate should have a growth mindset regarding the IP program

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent procedural IP skills
  • Knowledge of standard inpatient and outpatient clinical operations and procedures
  • Ability to work independently, as well as serving as a team member
  • Skilled in the use of an EMR for patient charting and all standard office software
  • Ability to develop collaborative or independent research projects
  • Ability to provide educational knowledge and skills to various learners

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

 

Assistant Professor: $94,668 to $250,000 

 

Associate Professor: $105,180 to $300,000 

 

Professor: $140,028 to $350,000 

 

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
