Job Title: Laboratory Science Professional (Open Rank, Entry or Intermediate)

Position #:00844510 – Requisition #:38755

Job Summary:

Our translational research program focuses on determining mechanisms underlying cardiac functional differences between males and females both with normal aging and in disease processes. This Laboratory Science Professional role will be an integral team member, conducting experiments exploring molecular and functional changes that occur in cardiomyocytes based on age, biological sex, or disease. This position will provide training in a wide variety of physiologic, biochemical, and molecular techniques aimed at understanding how the age and sex of an individual impact heart function. Along with wet laboratory experiments, this position will also entail complete and thorough note taking, data analysis, routine laboratory tasks, and work with laboratory animals.

Our lab utilizes human heart samples in addition to cell culture- and murine- based models to conduct experiments to evaluate molecular transcriptomic, proteomic, and functional alterations in response to a variety of conditions. This work will be important for the identification and development of drug therapies that improve cardiac function specifically targeted by age and biological sex.
