Your Role on the Team

Teacher working in an after-school program with school-aged children.As a member of a teaching team, will supervise aides and 45 children in a diverse environment.Incumbent is responsible for the day to day operation of the classroom.Duties include: planning and supervising the classroom activities, and providing an environment for school aged children that promotes safe, healthy and free exploration.Incumbent may be required to step in as a substitute teacher for the department preschools and the infant toddler center as needed.Must possess or qualify for a CA Child Development Permit, have a minimum of two years experience and provide evidence of CPR/First Aid/TB Test/Physical.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a child development team, with children, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a quality educational program.
  • Ability to relate to children as individuals in small and large groups.
  • Effective communication skills, both with children and adults.
  • Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education center, as well as changes taking place in the field.
  • Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for school aged children.
  • Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations and Title 22 and Title 5 regulations, applicable to a child care facility.
  • Current California Child Development Permit, Teacher Level
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certifications
  • 2 years working in a licensed center-based child care facilities


Preferred:

  • 3-6 units of infant toddler coursework


Special Conditions:

  • This is an in-person position. Teachers may be assigned shifts between 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday, depending on the needs of the department.
  • Proof of TDap, MMR, and other immunizations required by Community Care Licensing
  • Documentation of absence of active Tuberculosis

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $25.68- $30.46 (Hourly).
