Summary of Job Duties:

As a Cardiac Echo Technician, you will play a pivotal role in assisting medical professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Your primary responsibility will be to perform echocardiograms, utilizing specialized equipment to produce high-quality images of the heart and surrounding structures. You will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information, contribute to patient care, and ensure the highest standards of quality and patient safety.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Plus Graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing.

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), must be registry eligible and complete registration within one year of employment.

  • Current CPR


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and Analyze Data.

  • Collects required patient data and vital signs. 

  • Sets up for and assists the physician or licensed provider with procedures and examinations. 

  • Sets up for, and assists with Transesophageal studies including patient monitoring and manipulation of ultrasound equipment controls.  

  • Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations and velocities of acquired images.

  • Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology. 

  • Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s).

  • Contrast Administration.

  • Initiates IV access as needed, and according to UAMS policies and procedures.

  • Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) according to UAMS policies and procedures and documents correctly as evidenced by quarterly performance improvement data.  

  • Documentation.

  • Accurately completes billing and coding information for performed procedures.

  • Documents in EPIC based on CNL guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
