The Patient Throughput Coordinator will work with multiple entities to find and surmount the barriers to discharge of patient. This position acts as the designated liaison who facilitates and coordinates the transfer of patients into and within University Hospital. Works with referring agencies, hospitals, clinics, and the emergency department to ensure safe, timely transition of patients and clinically manages patient movement between units from the PACU, Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, procedural clinics and pre-admits for all service lines. Works with many support services, care areas and administrators to ensure clinically safe patient care, capacity management and efficient patient flow withing the University Hospital, all in accordance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) guidelines.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required. BLS and ACLS certifications required. Must have knowledge of patient flow operations. Prior Epic experience is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, team building, and oral and written communication skills required. Strong computer skills required
