About the Role
The primary purpose of the Environmental Services Worker position is to perform various tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment at University Hospital.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Keeps patient and non-patient areas of the facility clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Cleans hospital patient rooms, baths, showers, laboratories, offices, corridors, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other areas as assigned using approved cleaners and hospital approved germicide.
- Strips linen from beds, washes beds and mattresses using hospital approved germicide, remakes beds after discharge.
- Dusts furniture and equipment, empties waste baskets, trash, recycling and medical waste containers, washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills, polishes metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Performs light moves and set ups.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to carry out the duties of the position; prior experience in institutional environmental services is preferred.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $ 16.49 – $ 17.50 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in various areas of the hospital. This includes cleaning patient rooms, offices, and common areas, as well as managing waste disposal.
