Accounting Manager

About this role
Universal Stainless, headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel products serving primarily to the Aerospace, Energy, Automotive and general industrial markets.
Primary Objective:
The position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger and reporting system, leading the accounts payable and receivable functions, administering the monthly close, and administering various other corporate accounting, reporting and treasury functions. As the Accounting Manager, you will lead the corporate accounting team through efficient and accurate accounting and reporting at our corporate headquarters for the consolidated organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Monthly Accounting Close Schedule
- Maintain the General Ledger (manage accounting periods, maintain chart of accounts)
- Lead & manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including day-to-day supervision of personnel
- Lead & manage the corporate accounting function, including day-to-day supervision of personnel
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for areas of ownership, including SG&A, prepaid expenses, accruals, revenue recognition, and other areas; analyze SG&A spending on a monthly basis
- Prepare and maintain reports in the Management Reporter system
- Administer financial reporting through Tagetik consolidation system, and ensure timely reporting of related financial and treasury reporting requirements
- Coordinate the completion of balance sheet account reconciliations for all locations
- Manage annual 1099s process for vendors & related compliance process
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, including at least 3+ years managing other corporate accounting functions and staff
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Thorough knowledge of financial accounting and cost accounting principles & practices
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, primary Excel, Outlook, and Teams; strong data management and data analysis skills
- Previous use of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains a plus
