About this role

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Routing Admin is a key role in the Operations Department as this individual is responsible for routing orders for shipment to our largest accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the routing of customer purchase orders ensuring designated carriers are used and that freight arrives on time for delivery. 
  • Coordinate with customers and carriers through email and customer websites
  • Create all outbound bills of lading for both less than truckload and truckload shipments as needed.
  • Verify all truck shipments, carton counts and weight match BOL.
  • Understand advanced shipping notification (ASN) processes and serve as back up to compliance.
  • Provide accurate, detailed and timely carrier pickup schedules to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to make sure all orders are shipped on-time and in compliance with customer routing guides.
  • Organize, review and become an expert go-to person on customer routing guide requirements.
  • Maintain an outbound routing log.
  • Keep orderly and accessible files for all shipments.
  • Provide all freight quotes as needed for all truck shipments and UPS small package shipments as needed.
  • Monitor reports for truck shipments as needed.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • This is a full-time position 
  • Shift start/stop times may vary depending on department and business needs. Initial schedules are not guaranteed to be permanent. Any changes will be communicated with at least two weeks’ notice. Typical shifts are 8 hours but may require overtime as needed.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ of previous shipping administration experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Experience with Mass Sporting Goods customers preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Team player that is willing to work outside of direct responsibilities as needed.
  • Must have exceptional time management skills.
  • Possess the ability to prioritize numerous responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with shipment through customers’ truckers, LTL, UPS and FedEx.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure, including being able to plan and coordinate with multiple departments.
  • Must be able to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to write and speak simple sentences in English.  
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality are expected

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: stand for long periods of time; ability to become certified (if operating equipment); constantly move about the warehouse; pulling/pushing a cart containing cartons; bend/stoop/kneel/crouch to handle product; regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; and the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer). The work environment is often noisy with honking from passing forklifts and experiences hot/cold temperature fluctuations due to outside weather.
