If that’s you, come join us.</p> <p>Winning as an Underdog is more fun.</p></div><h3>About the role</h3> <ul> <li>Build and own Underdog’s SEO function from the ground up, setting strategy, tooling, processes, and success metrics.</li> <li>Define and execute an SEO strategy across technical SEO, GEO and content optimization to drive organic growth.</li> <li>Own site architecture, crawlability, indexation, and performance, improving rankings, UX, and site health.</li> <li>Partner with product, engineering, design, and marketing to embed SEO into site infrastructure, launches, and redesigns.</li> <li>Establish SEO reporting and measurement for a new function; track performance and surface insights.</li> <li>Run ongoing technical SEO audits and work with engineering to implement fixes.</li> <li>Serve as the SEO subject matter expert, guiding prioritization and educating cross-functional teams.</li> <li>Monitor and analyze performance using tools like GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, and identify new growth opportunities.</li> <li>Stay ahead of algorithm updates, SEO trends, and emerging technologies.</li> <li>Lead AI-driven SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) efforts to improve discovery across AI-powered search experiences.</li> </ul> <h3>Who you are</h3> <ul> <li>8+ years of SEO experience, with deep technical SEO expertise.</li> <li>Strong understanding of search algorithms, crawling, indexation, and ranking factors.</li> <li>Hands-on with GSC, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and similar tools.</li> <li>Comfortable working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and partnering closely with engineers.</li> <li>Highly analytical, with experience using Looker or Google Data Studio.</li> <li>Experienced in mobile-first SEO; international SEO knowledge is a plus.</li> <li>Proven ability to lead through influence and drive cross-functional alignment.</li> </ul> <h3>Even better if you have</h3> <ul> <li>Experience building or scaling an SEO program in a zero-to-one environment.</li> </ul> <p><em>Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $190,000, plus target equity.
