UMO is a stealth-mode FinTech venture aiming to evolve the way people experience money by building a unified, AI-powered, yet deeply human modern money platform across fiat, crypto, and investments- subject to regulatory approvals. The financial platform is being designed to break down traditional barriers to money across access, assets, and experience, enabling simpler, more adaptive ways for people to interact with financial services.
We are currently developing our MVP and navigating licensing requirements, with a multidisciplinary team of 100+ people representing 20+ nationalities. With our headquarters in the UAE and offices in Portugal and Ukraine, we are united behind a shared ambition and a relentless focus on serving our customers through our next-generation financial ecosystem.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Daily Bookkeeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate general ledgers, manage accounts payable/receivable, and ensure full compliance with UAE VAT regulations, including timely filings and documentation.
- Fintech & Payment Reconciliation: Reconcile high-volume transactions from various payment gateways and digital finance platforms, identifying and resolving discrepancies in automated payment flows.
- Crypto & Digital Asset Accounting: Track and record cryptocurrency transactions, monitor exchange balances/wallets, and assist in establishing accounting treatments for digital assets within the platform.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing a clear view of both fiat and digital asset positions across the comprehensive financial platform.
- Data Analysis & Automation: Manage and analyze large datasets to extract financial insights and work with the tech team to automate data flows between payment systems and accounting software.
- Cash Flow Management: Perform regular bank and wallet reconciliations across multiple currencies to ensure optimal liquidity and accuracy for the integrated financial platform.
Requirements:
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked within the UAE market.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, or CMA part-qualified is a plus).
- Language Skills: Full professional fluency in English; must be capable of drafting reports and communicating complex financial data clearly.
- Fintech & Crypto Expertise: Hands-on experience or deep technical understanding of payment gateways, digital wallets, and cryptocurrency transaction cycles.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel (handling big data/large exports) and proficiency in standard accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, Tally, or Xero).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid grasp of UAE VAT laws and experience in managing tax compliance for a local entity.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to spot patterns within high-volume data and a proactive approach to troubleshooting reconciliation errors in a fast-paced environment.
