Location: Mountview Centre, 59 Karen Crescent, Hamilton, ON L9C 5M5
Total Weekly Hours: 27.75 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00am to 9:00am and 2:45pm to 6:00pm
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):

  • RECE: $27.94 per hour

Who We’re Looking For

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children or in a childcare setting.
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Certifications:
  • Good standing and active registration with the College of ECE  
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? (an asset)
  • Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Maintain an engaging and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Complete documentation and meet Ministry of Education requirements.
  • Collaborate with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty.

Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton is a non-profit corporation, in operation since 1988 and administered by a community-based Board of Directors. Our Board Members include Hamilton Wentworth District School Board Trustees and staff, as well as members of the community who have a keen interest in early learning and childcare. We operate full-day early learning and child care centres, as well as extended day programs before and after school in the Greater Hamilton Area.
