Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to work in the behavioral healthcare field. 

This is a per diem position where the employee has flexibility in choosing the shifts they work. 

Our psych units work 12-hour shifts - 6:30am - 7:00pm or 6:30pm - 7:00am.

Our chemical dependency unit works 8-hour shifts- 6:30am-3:00pm, 2:30pm-11pm or 10:30pm-7:00am

Located in Shippensburg, PA., our 112-bed behavioral health facility offers acute psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation services for adults as well as, an adolescent inpatient psychiatric program for youth ages 13-17. We also have two substance use disorder outpatient offices in Carlisle and Chambersburg. The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors unit milieu and helps to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
  • Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule
  • Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety
  • Works collaboratively with unit nursing staff on patient care activities
  • Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.

Qualifications

Mental Health Tech Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a psychology-related field is highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License with safe driving record
