West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. The hospital is easily accessible off the Southwest Freeway near the Galleria.

West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dedicated and positive Lead Therapist to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Lead Therapist provides direct care to patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions in an acute setting. Responsible for collaborating with the patient, family/support, multidisciplinary team, outside providers, and community agencies to support and coordinate treatment and discharge planning. Responsible for continuing own personal development to enhance practice. Works primarily with Youth Therapists to supervise, direct and ensure coverage of the daily operations. Works directly with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services (ADCS) for collaborative management and may perform ADCS functions, when applicable.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete Psychosocial Assessments, treatment Plan reviews, individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy sessions within established timeframes either face to face or telephonically-with all patients, family and significant others.
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team including physicians, RNs, Care Managers and other healthcare team members in crisis intervention; creating behavioral plans, case conferences, client centered interventions and discharge planning.
  • Conducts assigned therapeutic groups. Provides comprehensive education, instructions, advocacy information designed to assist the patient and significant others to identify and secure needed health care follow-up services.
  • Assists with supervising the daily operations of the clinical services staff. This pertains to answering calls and questions, including responding to crisis situations (i.e. codes, coverage, difficult issues, and emergencies). Additionally, coaches staff and provides feedback by addressing conflict directly and constructively through effective communication at all levels.
  • Oversees all clinical documentation completions by other therapists and trains staff to provide accurate and up-to-date charting documentation as required by hospital policies. Audits charts regularly to ensure compliance, in the moment corrections, and hold staff accountable.
  • Assist with adequate coverage by completing weekend scheduling and coordinating PRN staffing for weekends and weekdays.
  • Establishes a standard for all department members to maintain a professional working relationship with all other clinical service team members to assist in achieving or exceeding departmental goals.
  • Aids in the continuation of program(s) and/or implementation of new programs and services to improve patient care.
  • Trains staff and students on the clinical procedures and documentation process.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education Required: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling/Social Work or related field. Preferred: Master’s in Social Work.
  • Licensure: LPC, LPC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, LMSW or LMSW in Texas. CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications. 
  • Experience Required: One to 3 years of clinical experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
