Job Purpose

The Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor is responsible for supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of operational, administrative, and maintenance systems related to HSEQ within the Cross River Rail (CRR) project.

This role assists the UGL Facilities Maintenance (FM) team by contributing to the development and upkeep of robust documentation, operational procedures, and reporting frameworks to ensure compliance with the FM Subcontract, Project Scope, Technical Requirements, and associated contractual obligations.

The HSEQ Advisor plays a key role in ensuring that maintenance activities, asset management issues, documentation, and legislative obligations are addressed efficiently and in accordance with project requirements. The position supports the achievement of positive safety and quality outcomes and helps reduce operational risk across the project.


Key Responsibilities

Alert UGLFM management and client representatives to any abnormal occurrences or issues of concern.
Maintain WHSEQ records in line with the UGLFM filing structure and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Support the delivery of training on WHSEQ topics as outlined in the training matrix.
Maintain communication with QR, WHSEQ authorities, and relevant regulators to ensure UGLFM remains informed of legislative changes and industry trends.
Assist in the development, review, and update of UGLFM Maintenance Management Plans and procedures.
Ensure all documentation, records, and correspondence are stored in line with the Quality Management System.
Support the implementation and maintenance of Safety, Environment and Quality systems in line with project requirements and certification standards.
Assist in ensuring compliance with rail-specific, facility maintenance, and workplace health and safety legislation, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Provide advice and guidance to project teams on health and safety matters, escalating issues where required.
Collaborate regularly with Senior Project Manager and operational teams to support safe systems of work.
Support the development and maintenance of Facilities Maintenance (FM) Plans in collaboration with the project team.
Assist in developing relationships with Queensland Rail (QR) WHSEQ contacts to ensure alignment across systems.
Contribute to the preparation and rollout of management plans, procedures, and communication materials.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate records and registers to support decision-making and compliance.
Ensure reporting meets required internal service standards and supports transparency for management and client representatives.
Prepare and compile WHSEQ reports as directed, including data for the Safety, Environmental, and Quality Plans.


Qualifications

Prior experience working in the delivery of major infrastructure projects is highly regarded
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Operations, Maintenance or Facilities Maintenance environment
Formal qualifications in Quality, Safety and/or environment 
Experience in conducting WHSEQ audits
Time management skills and ability to prioritise outputs

About UGL Limited

• 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines
• 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure
• 1,312 level crossings (300 active)
• 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites)
• 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges
