The Opportunity
The Planner plays a crucial role in efficiently organising planned works to align with UGL and client deadlines, optimising the utilisation of UGL workforce, trades, and associated resources. By crafting appropriate work plan, the Planner enables supervisors & crew leads to achieve high levels of utilisation, minimising downtime and ensuring ample resources for projects & programs of work.
Key responsibilities:
Plan routine and non-routine operations & maintenance jobs in a grouped sequence for efficiency and minimising customer outages.
Prepare Service Order job packs with priorities and target completion dates, client information, Dial Before You Dig, WHS requirements, quality requirements, materials, subcontractor requirements, special requirements, customer notifications, etc
Apply for electrical access to various networks within the applicable timeframes and compliance requirements, monitor and amend applications to the operating day
Schedule labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and tools to maintain defined performance criteria
Work with the Program Managers and Supervisors to ensure quality and safety audits of the work undertaken is completed by contractors and employees.
Review system processes and procedures to ensure most effective and efficient operating practices are being utilised.
Promote and assist implementing health and safety strategies, guidelines and legislation so to ensure workforce compliance and promote a culture of care and concern for all team members.
Ideal attributes
· Demonstrated ability to efficiently plan and schedule powerline works, utilising project management tools and methodologies to optimise timelines.
· Ability to generate insightful reports on project progress, resource utilization, and potential bottlenecks, facilitating data-driven decision-making for future projects.

UGL Regional Linx was established in 2021, after parent company, UGL Limited was selected to deliver operations and maintenance of rail infrastructure for the Country Regional Network (CRN). This network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney with many important regional centres.
UGL Regional Linx commenced operations on January 30 2022 and works on behalf of the client, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and will be responsible for managing an important network of assets. As part of its operation, UGL Regional Linx’s scope of work includes:
• Network operations
• Rail infrastructure maintenance and implementation of a new train control system - UGL’s proprietary system, Sigview.
• Asset and property management, and
• Safety, access, performance, and environmental management.
UGL Regional Linx has made a strong commitment to local and indigenous employment, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to regional NSW. As part of its operations, UGL Regional Linx established its head office and Network Control Centre in the heart of the Central West, Orange, NSW.
The CRN network includes:
• 2,386 route kilometres of operational passenger and freight rail lines, including 996 km of branch line track used predominantly for haulage of grain, with lower mass and speed limits than other parts of the network
• 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines
• 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure
• 1,312 level crossings (300 active)
• 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites)
• 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges
The CRN is a crucial piece of infrastructure to regional NSW and UGL Regional Linx is committed to ensure that it delivers for all customers, from rail passengers to farmers and industry.
