About the role

A new opportunity exists for an experienced Telecommunications Project Engineer to support the Utilities Team. Aspects of the role include:

  • Deliver  the Telecommunications aspects of Utilities projects across the entire project lifecycle, from tendering to handover and support, including, but not limited to:
    • Preparation of estimates and documentation associated with tenders
    • Preparation of design documentation in accordance with client and other requirements
    • Engagement and management of suppliers and contractors
    • Procurement and construction of telecommunications systems
    • Preparation and execution of testing and commissioning plans and procedures
    • Achieve Handover to customer and provide post handover support for supplied systems
    • Coordination with other disciplines and contractors involved in the project.
  • The role will also be required to:
    • Review and plan the project with the Contract Manager to ensure technical aspects of job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with client. 
    • Liaise with Construction Superintendent to ensure the Telecommunications aspects of the project are correctly scheduled. 
    • Liaise with Client on all technical aspects of the project. 
    • Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated sub suppliers. 
    • Provide engineering advice for sub suppliers. 
    • Attend meetings with client as required
    • Liaise with the Quality Manager to ensure all Inspection and Test Plans and associated Project Specific Procedures are compliant with project quality plan. 
    • Ensure that the quality requirements of the client are adhered to and that company procedures are followed. 
    • Assist with the compilation of construction Work Packs and test packs in accordance with Project requirements (content, accuracy and timing). 
    • Prepare requisitions for materials and services in accordance with Project requirements (content, accuracy and timing). 
    • Ensure Quality records are progressively completed and signed off in accordance with the schedule. 
    • Provides written reports on engineering activities as required. 
    • Assess of risks and hazards involved in tasks, and devise methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage. 
    • Mentor and develop junior staff

Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, etc).
  • At least 5 years experience in the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of optical fibre based telecommunications systems to Australian electricity authorities such as Ausgrid and Transgrid.
  • Practical experience with equipment rack builds and fibre splicing in an electrical utilities environement.

UGL Regional Linx was established in 2021, after parent company, UGL Limited was selected to deliver operations and maintenance of rail infrastructure for the Country Regional Network (CRN). • 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines
• 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure
• 1,312 level crossings (300 active)
• 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites)
• 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges

The CRN is a crucial piece of infrastructure to regional NSW and UGL Regional Linx is committed to ensure that it delivers for all customers, from rail passengers to farmers and industry.
