Overview
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) ('direct supervision' means an RN is on the premises and immediately physically available), provides technical nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.
Qualifications
Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Required Education: -High School Diploma or GED, and Vocational Training. -Must have graduated from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse program and completed 30-hour IV Therapy Course for LPNs, which has been approved by the Florida Board of Nursing pursuant to Rule 64B9-5.006 (30-hour IV Therapy Course not applicable to those in CC 670300 - 4S Psych Pav) Necessary Skills: 1. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team. 2. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery Required Licensure/Certifications: -Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Florida -BLS from the American Heart Association -Successful completion of a 30-hour IV Therapy Course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider pursuant to Rule 64B9-5.006 (30-hour IV Therapy Course not applicable to those in CC 670300 - 4S Psych Pav) -Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days, and then annually, is required for Psych Unit. -For 3S Gyn-CC 650301, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have NRP by 07/01/2019. New hires and transfers are required to have NRP within 6 months of hire or transfer. -For 3S Gyn-CC 650301, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have STABLE by 07/01/2019. New hires and transfers are required to have STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer. Required Experience: Less than one year training as an LPN. Preferred Experience: One (1) year of clinical experience.
