Duties:

Jr Rad Tech

  • Provide contamination and radiation exposure control. 
  • Perform surveys where procedures have been established. 
  • Duties may include working with routine and/or special detection equipment. 
  • Perform qualitative mask fit for radiological protection.
  • As assigned by management: perform special studies in the evaluation of radiological
  • protection for personnel, environmental, or plant areas; 
  • Participate in area specific radiation worker qualification and requalification programs; 
  • Prepare and maintain records and documentation as appropriate; 
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of radiation control documents such as Radiological Work Permits (RWP’s), ALARA Management Worksheets (AMW’s), etc.

 

Sr Rad Tech

Job-Related Qualifications Required:

Jr Rad Tech

Education: 

High School diploma or equivalent

AND 

AA/AS in Radiation Protection, Health Physics, Nuclear Technology, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health or related field

       

Experience:

6 months applicable field experience as a Radiological Protection/Health Physics Technician within a formally structured radiation protection program. 

 

Education may substitute for Experience - 3 months for Associate degree and/or 6 months for Bachelor’s degree. 

 

Prior Training or Qualifications:

  • DOE L or Q security clearance or the ability to obtain the same. 
  • Qualification for Radiological work is based on a combination of classroom training, formal Radiological trade, military, college or other training, work experience and on-the-job training. Experience may be a combination of, or include formal technical related education courses, hands-on field or classroom lab work that may or may not result in licenses or certifications
  • Ability to participate in physically demanding work while wearing personal protective equipment including respiratory protection. 
  • Successful completion of DOE RPT Core Examination (Fundamental Academics) or NRRPT.
  • Completion of Navy Nuclear ELT Program is a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.

 

Sr Rad Tech

Education:
