We are seeking an inspiring and visionary Medical Head for East Central Europe (ECE) Cluster (covering Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary), to lead our medical affairs team, driving excellence and collaboration across the region.

The role is based in Warsaw, Poland or Prague, Czech Republic.

 

About the Role

As the Medical Head ECE cluster, you will set the strategic direction for Medical Affairs, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local execution. You will lead a high-performing medical team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and champion medical compliance and scientific integrity.

Reporting to the General Manager ECE, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping medical strategy, driving evidence generation, and building a culture of excellence across the cluster.

 

Who You’ll Work With

You will collaborate with Medical Leads, MSLs, Medical Governance, UCB Cares patient engagement partners, and Medical Operations Specialists. You’ll work closely with commercial, access, regional, and European Medical teams, as well as external partners including key opinion leaders, regulatory authorities, and patient advocacy groups.

 

What Will You Do

  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the ECE cluster medical team.
  • Recruit, develop, and engage individuals in the cluster medical leadership team.
  • Ensure strategic alignment and execution of Medical Affairs plans across ECE.
  • Drive integrated evidence generation and medical excellence initiatives.
  • Champion medical compliance, governance, and scientific integrity.
  • Foster a culture of high performance, psychological safety, and ethical standards.
  • Streamline and harmonize Medical Affairs processes, ensuring best practices and compliance.
  • Act as a scientific expert and ambassador for UCB’s portfolio.

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Medical Degree (M.D.), Ph.D., Master’s, or equivalent in Life Sciences or related field.
  • Fluent in English, with Polish or Czech at a highly proficient level.
  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry, with strong leadership (inspirational leadership, building a team) experience.
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, study management, and real-world evidence generation.
  • Proven track record in cross-functional planning, collaboration, and solution building.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong strategic and analytical experience, with the ability to translate science into clinical and business value.
  • Demonstrated experience in governance activities and pragmatic implementation.
