Job Summary

This position will work directly with the plant and corporate-level engineering and operations departments. This Candidate will be responsible for capital investment projects, starting with ideation, design, quoting, and installation start-up, primarily for utility-based systems. Candidates will need to demonstrate proficient knowledge in building utilities including but not limited to Ammonia Refrigeration, High Pressure Steam Systems, HVAC, Process Water, Fire Protection, Compressed Air, etc. Candidates will demonstrate proficiency in designing and operating in accordance with the regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, IIAR, and Tyson standards. This Candidate will need to effectively communicate with members of management, engineering, operations, contractors, and direct reports as this is fundamental to being successful in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage facility and utility capital investment projects.
  • Identify all aspects of the project that needed to be included to complete scope of work.
  • Identify and document project justification for financial approval.
  • Develop and provide detailed scope of work to contractors for competitive quoting.
  • Obtain detailed contractor quotes including all necessary and unforeseen costs associated with the project installation and start-up.
  • Provide all financial and design documentation to corporate financial and Asset Management team for approval.
  • Manage purchasing documentation, invoicing, and required spare parts.
  • Provide final approval for equipment and project layout drawings.
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate installation with vendors, contractors, and operations.
  • Complete a safe, timely, and on-budget project with proper equipment start-up and employee training.
  • Complete all final details of the project including Asset Set up, Lock Out Tag Out, Line Opening, Electrical Labeling, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Finalize and confirm all details of the project are complete and close the project.
  • Provide Engineering support to the Utility Department Manager and Technicians
  • Identify and address mechanical integrity concerns and coordinate repairs.
  • Drive continuous improvement and system efficiency improvements.
  • Provide support for the technicians through preventative maintenance and repairs on new and existing equipment.
  • Promote open communications and positive working relationships with all departments throughout the facility.
  • Conduct safety audits, address and provide support and solutions to mitigate safety risks.
  • Coordinate building and Utility repairs with local agencies.
  • Maintain record keeping and up to date compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Candidate needs to be a highly motivated professional, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate should be flexible, willing, and able to assist with projects and downtime events.
  • Able to maintain and develop strong relationships with leaders and employees at all levels and areas of responsibility within the company.
  • As a member of management, it is expected to project a positive attitude while handling himself/herself in a professional manner.
  • Creates effective plans to promote change; knows how to manage in changing circumstances; strongly advocates an independent point of view but can be counted on to execute management decisions.

Experience/Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Equivalent field experience in project management and utility systems preferred.
  • Experience in the Food and Beverage industry.
  • Strong skills and understanding of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems are preferred.
  • Proficiency with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and Design Requirements are preferred.
  • Strong skills in steam systems.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft based software such as Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience with SAP/CMMS systems is preferred.
  • Proficient experience with AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday 0700 – 1600 Hours may vary based on demands.
  • Flexible to work weekends, and/or holidays as needed to meet project demands.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately one to two weeks’ travel per year for equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and necessary training.
