Requirements: Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months. 
Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Job Title: Poultry Farm Worker - House Belt Crew                                               Job Group:  08

Location: Pocomoke Farms, Pocomoke, MD

Schedule:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including holidays

Hours: 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Typically this position generally averages 40 hours a week. 

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Pay: Starting pay - $18.00/hour

Position Summary

  • This position is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting poultry house belts; removing waste from poultry houses; maintaining and cleaning farm/belt equipment inside and outside of houses

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Must be able to read, write, and have simple math [addition, subtraction, multiplication and division] skills.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have Valid Driver’s License, 1 year verifiable Driving experience with clean safety record
  • Fork lift, Bobcat and tractor certified or able to obtain certification.
  • Must be able to obtain respiratory certification per OSHA standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove waste from belts inside houses; clean and disinfect poultry houses and all equipment (including vehicles/tractors) utilizing commercial pressure washer on wet/slick floor; Repairs and maintains tractors, pressure washers, litter truck, trailers, and mechanical equipment (75%)
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: farm cleanup such as garbage/litter/waste retrieval; (10%)
  • Performs simple math as part of recording information according to instructions and Cobb (15%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds to move items such as partitions, cages, bird coops; tools, such as pallet jack, may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies, shavings, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex; proficiently operate trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Tools and Equipment: Pressure Washer, High Powers hose, tractor
  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.  Ear plugs will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. 
  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Synergize, My-T-Kleen Barnwash, Lysol, Formaldehyde, Pesticide, etc.
  • Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.  These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment.  Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
