About this role

General Description

Leads production efforts in the manufacturing of electro-mechanical assemblies as an individual contributor. These assemblies involve various electronic assembly operations to include but not limited to SMT soldering and repairs, through-hole soldering and repairs, optical fiber, fiber cables, hybrid wiring harness assemblies, wire termination, cable harness assembly, cable harness integration into chassis and modules. This an advanced position.

Duties

  • Assembles electrical and electronic components, wiring harnesses, and other electrical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Manufactures electronic/electrical circuitry, electronic components (CCA's), and wiring harnesses according to Manufacturing Orders (M.O.), Drawings, Engineering Changes, Customer Specifications, and Process of Instructions (P.I.).
  • Understand and interpret IPC/J-ST, AS, and MIL specifications as they relate to Defense/Aerospace.
  • Procure the necessary tools, parts, and consumables for all assembly applications.
  • Check stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners.
  • Develop constructive, goal driven relationships.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
  • Work as either an individual contributor, in a team environment or as a designated team lead

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years of defense/aerospace manufacturing experience required. Military experience may substitute.
  • Team Lead/Group Leader/ Supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Must be familiar with and understand ESD, IPC620, J-STD, AS and MIL specifications as they relate to Defense/Aerospace requirements in electro-mechanical applications, cables, harnesses, PCBA.
  • IPC-A-640 or equivalent/Fiber Optics Manufacturing is a major plus.
  • Mastery level knowledge of "build to print" operations.
  • Superior knowledge of applicable specifications required to produce products in a defense/aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Will be well versed in inspection techniques and specifications interpretation.
  • Extensive experience in harness fabrication and enclosure integration.
  • Possess a working knowledge of "Lean 6-Sigma" methodology and be an effective problem solver.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • 6-Sigma Green Belt training a plus.
  • General to Moderate computer skills.
  • Must be able to read and write English.

  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
