SUMMARY:  

Conduct safety analysis and risk assessments. Contribute analysis results and reports to safety projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete all aspects of regulatory compliance testing, act as lead engineer on complex projects. 
  • Train other test engineers and test technicians. 
  • Test moderate to highly complex equipment. 
  • Ensure products meet IEC, EN, UL, CSA test standards. 
  • Prepare test development project quotes and proposals by assisting in defining customer technical requirements, test strategies and selecting test equipment. 
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers. 
  • Liaise with other global laboratories to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods and interpretations. 
  • Document test results for correction actions, reports and audits. 
  • Analyze test data and determine expected outcome for tests. Identify and report all deviations. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  • Ensure that analysis is in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities 

  • Excellent communication skills, to relay complex scientific and technical information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner, verbally and in technical writing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazard analysis techniques for complex systems.
  • Ability to travel.  Valid passport and driver’s license required.

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education and/or experience.

Experience 

  • 3 years of experience evaluating products in accordance with CB Scheme, UL/NRTL, CE and GS regulatory standards, including experience with IEC, EN, UL, CSA for product categories MEAS, ITAV, HOUS.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

  • Office Environment.
  • Ability to safely visit job sites, mount and dismount locomotives, and survey field conditions.

Travel Required

  • Travel to client’s facilities.
