This is not a remote/hybrid position and will be based in a Turner office or project location.

 

Reports To: Community & Citizenship Manager or Director, or General Manager

Position Description: Lead development and implementation of programs and initiatives in alignment with business unit goals and Community and Citizenship strategic pillars.

 

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

•      Meet with clients, community and industry partners to discuss opportunities

•      Attend industry events to develop relationships

       Knowledgeable and comprehend business unit (BU) goals and Community and Citizenship (C&C) strategic pillars to lead development and implementation of C&C programs and initiatives.

       Understand sensitivity and uniqueness of projects, communities, and Underrepresented Business Enterprises (UBE).

       In partnership with Procurement Department:

o    Lead UBE programs to achieve established goals.

o    Understand utilization metrics to assist in identification of gaps and possible solutions.

o    Share knowledge of certified UBEs to provide advice on potential bidding opportunities.

o    Build relationships with local, community, Federal, State, and City organizations that support and promote UBE advancement, diversity, and inclusion.

o    Implement outreach events to foster relationships with UBEs in various capacities.

       Develop various programs and initiatives in support of C&C strategic pillars.

o    Establish partnerships with educational institutions, after school programs, and other related agencies to facilitate educational programs to generate future opportunities within construction industry.

o    Identify targeted opportunities for community partnerships and develop service initiatives.

       Utilize research on local, social and economic issues and trends to assess impact of service initiatives within community.

       In partnership with Business Development, provide C&C specific content in support of sales pursuits.

       Promote employee involvement in C&C initiatives, reinforce positive culture and foster connectivity of Turner employees.

Ensure staff are recognize for community service participation.

       Contribute new ideas to support continuous improvement in overall effectiveness of C&C team. 

       Apply basic lean concepts and practices to work efficiently, enhance programs, coordinate and reduce waste, (e.g. PDCA, Kanban, A3 problem solving, and Story Boarding).

       Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Required Qualifications:

           Associate’s Degree or higher from accredited degree program and minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; recommended majors include, but not limited to Liberal Arts, Communication, Marketing, Sociology, Public Affairs, Social Outreach, or similar degree program

           Passion for community-based programs with current or past volunteerism or other community experience

           Program management expertise, conduct research, and able to develop and implement programs and processes

           Industry knowledge (e.g. construction, workforce development, supplier diversity)

           Influential relationship building skills, able to lead and influence others that are not direct reports

           Effective professional verbal and written business communication skills

    Other Qualifications:

    •     Display initiative, able to prioritize responsibilities of competing demands, and able to maintain confidentiality

    •     Ability to work in non-structured environment, with minimal oversight, take direction without continuous follow-up, and work with multiple project teams

           Understand continuous improvement methods and tools

           Possess solid problem solving and analytical capabilities, familiar with basic lean culture and concepts

           Proficient computer skills, Microsoft suite of applications, intermediate MS Excel skills, database applications, calendar program skills, and collaboration technology

           Minimal travel

The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
