Job Title: Cloud Engineer III

Hours: 40 hours per week - M-F 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST

Location: Fully Remote

Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on the design, development, and implementation of information technology (IT) solutions in order to meet the organization's needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure and the management of the IT infrastructure.  In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Infrastructure Support duties: Installs, configures, administers, supports, or maintains IT software and hardware systems, IT data/voice network systems, and internal databases. Ensures the uptime, performance, and resource availability of the computers and other IT systems; matches the organization's resources with the demand placed on them; monitors organization's wide area and/or local area network performance; identifies and resolves network problems; upgrades network hardware, software and telecommunications equipment including set up the servers, routers, cables. This job builds infrastructure and systems, maintain and troubleshoot Tier 2 problems.  A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs.   The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education.  A senior level role that requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.  Typically responsible for: managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals, resolving difficult and sometimes complex problems.

Job Overview

Responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-based solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS) to meet the business and technical needs of an organization. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures.  Ensure that applications and systems deployed on AWS meet best practices for reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and security.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School or equivalent.

2. Five (5) years of experience in a cloud engineering position.

3. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

4. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.

5. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or obtain within 6 months from hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

2. AWS Certified Security.

3. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Design and implement cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.

2. Ensure all solutions align with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and implement and Manage AWS Security Best Practices.

3. Collaborate with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and create solutions that align with business goals.

4. Optimize cloud resources to enhance performance, reduce costs, and ensure efficient use of AWS services.

5. Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.

6. Monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments to resolve performance, security, or operational issues.

7. Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.

8. Support cloud migration projects by assessing on-premises environments and developing migration strategies to AWS.

9. Provide technical support and guidance to development teams, ensuring proper use of AWS services and best practices.

10. Identify opportunities for cost optimization, recommending and implementing changes to reduce operational expenses while maintaining system performance.

11. Document and update system configurations, procedures, and best practices

12. Remain current on system updates, capabilities, enhancements, and best practices to continuously improve the performance, security, and scalability of the system infrastructure

13. Participate in on-call rotations or provide after-hours support as needed to ensure 24/7 uptime of mission-critical cloud services.

14. Provide training and technical guidance to internal teams on AWS services, architecture, and best practices.

Physical Requirements:

1. Work environment: professional office environment with typical office requirements such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs and operate office equipment.

3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate, and exchange information.

4. Able to see and read computers displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.

5. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Programming or scripting language skills.

2. Knowledge of networking, security protocols, and best practices in a cloud environment.

3. Cloud cost optimization, cloud networking and cloud infrastructure automation skills.

4. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize AWS environments for performance, cost efficiency, and security.

5. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools.

6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a cloud environment.

7. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors.

8. Attention to detail and ability to document solutions and processes clearly.

9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Pay Range:

 

$134,525.66 - $171,524.44
