
Position Overview:
The Director EHS Training & Compliance oversees the development and implementation of Environmental, Health, Safety and Driver programs and ensures compliance with regulations like OSHA, EPA, MUTCD, DOT, and ATSSA through training and audits. Key responsibilities include assessing risks, developing and delivering training programs, conducting compliance audits, investigating incidents, managing EHS records, and serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
Position Summary:
The Director EHS Training and Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) training programs and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This includes creating and delivering training materials, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with other departments to promote a culture of safety.
Program Development and Implementation:
Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Training Development, Delivery & Education:
Identify training needs, develop and coordinate safety training programs for all employees at all levels, and monitor training effectiveness and compliance.
Auditing, Monitoring & Inspections:
Conduct regular workplace audits and safety assessments to identify hazards, evaluate compliance with standards, and recommend corrective actions.
Incident Investigation:
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor adherence to EHS regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of safety performance, training completion, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
Reporting & Analysis:
Analyze EHS data and metrics to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and report findings to management.
Training and Culture:
Design / deliver EHS/Driver/Traffic Control training programs, promoting a culture of safety stewardship among employees.
Conduct Risk Assessments and Audits:
Regularly assess workplace hazards, conduct audits, and develop training strategies to mitigate risks.
Manage EHS Records and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of EHS training, incidents, and audits.
Workers Compensation Program Management:
Strategically oversee the workers’ compensation program, including design, implementation, and evaluation.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
7-9 years of relevant experience.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus – excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in the development and implementation of an EHS training programs.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software applications, software management systems, EHS management systems and reporting platforms.
