About Trimble Cloud xOps

Trimble Cloud xOps is a shared services organization for Trimble divisions using public cloud to deliver technology services to Construction, Agriculture, Buildings, Transportation, and Natural Resources markets. We offer public cloud access and billing, common infrastructure and security services, consulting and application operations, and a suite of DevOps tools hosted for the enterprise. As public cloud usage at Trimble is growing, Trimble Cloud xOps is looking to expand the team and breadth of our service offerings.

Position Overview

Trimble Cloud xOps is seeking a hands-on Sr. Cloud Engineering Manager to provide leadership to our Chennai Cloud Engineering team, focusing on providing Global Cloud engineering services to Trimble divisions. You will implement an AI-first culture, develop & ensure the adoption of AI capabilities to increase engineering productivity. 

This role involves driving segment alignment, building expertise in Construction, Transportation, Field Systems, and Horizontal Engineering, and facilitating the team's focus on customers, standards, and productivity. You will be managing a team of highly skilled engineers that deliver CI/CD, Deployment Management, Migration, Observability & Monitoring, AI & Automation delivery and finally Cloud Infrastructure Management Solutions. This role directly reports to Sr. Director Global SaaS. 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management:

    • Manage a team of Cloud Engineers and two managers, providing job assignments, career development, training, compensation administration, hiring, and performance management.

    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team.

    • Build trust and a partnership with Trimble engineering leadership to deliver technical solutions and solve complex technical problems.  

    • Serve as a final point of escalation for operational issues.

    • Responsible for driving 90% or above engineer utilization. 

    • Prepare & present Monthly Operational Review (MOR) that includes analysis of metrics and actioning continual improvement opportunities.  

  • Cloud Engineering & Technical:

    • Ensure team adoption of AI productivity tools.

    • Drive segment alignment and build expertise with AECO, Transportation, Field Systems, and Horizontal Engineering.

    • Drive adoption of xOps standards framework across all divisions projects.

  • Operational & Strategic:

    • Improve the security and cost efficiency of internal customer accounts.

    • Be a leader in the Trimble engineering community, sharing best practices and collaborating on initiatives.

    • Bring in new technologies, processes, or training to improve the way the Cloud Engineering teams provide service in a measurable way.

    • Continuous learning of new technologies, assessing their application and business value.

    • Working knowledge of public cloud cost and security best practices.

    • Working knowledge of ITIL and continuous improvement, managing to KPIs.

    • Experience in managing multiple agile projects and individual contributors.

  • Reporting & Communication:

    • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, including documentation, presentations, and informal methods.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S., B.E., or B.Tech. in Computer Science or Information Systems.

  • Minimum of 15 years of related technical experience and 3 years experience in people management.

  • Demonstrated expertise in accountability for both you and your team getting work done on time with high quality.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills using data / analytics.

  • Demonstrated experience finding and applying new technology to solve business problems.

  • Worked in an agile development environment, continuously improving.

  • Experience in managing multiple customers or projects with competing priorities.

  • Understanding of technical and organizational security vulnerabilities, threats, and risks / mitigations.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills using data / analytics.

Desired Qualifications

  • AWS SysOps, DevOps, or Solutions Architect Professional Certification.

  • Demonstrated expertise of AWS and Linux environments.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows environments.

  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and web services.

  • Working knowledge of DevOps tools like Jira, Git, Jenkins, or Bamboo, and Software Engineering practices.

  • Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or bash.

  • Experience working in modern agile software development processes, performing web API integration, and using dev tools (e.g., Git, Bamboo, and Jira).

  • Experience in consulting and/or establishing trusted advisor relationships.

  • Experience in Software Engineering.

  • Experience in creating/managing an organizational budget.

  • Experience in ISO 27001 certified organizations.

  • Hands-on engineering experience with AWS or Azure, both are preferred.

  • Understanding of approaches to monitoring for availability and performance.

  • Experience using OKRs to achieve results.
