Position Summary: 

Reporting jointly to the Manager, Corporate Strategy & Planning and Director Financial Strategy, the Senior Finance Lead will build, design, coordinate, analyze, and drive corporate financial initiatives for organizational projects and effectively work as a strategic business partner with associated program leaders.  The Senior Finance Lead will collaborate closely with Project leadership, Key Project Executive Sponsors, External funders, members of the Financial leadership team, financial planning program advisors, and Clinical & Enabling Program VPs. They will provide guidance and insight to ensure decision-making aligns with the organization’s financial strategy and project objectives. 

The Senior Corporate lead will provide expert financial modeling including large Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, and strategic acumen in support of a critical, multi-faceted initiative. The lead will be instrumental in establishing the fiscal framework for a dedicated Program and Governance Office, ensuring all projects align with the government funding agency objectives. A core responsibility will involve developing comprehensive financial models and business cases for key projects. This role requires the ability to provide in-depth analysis and strategic guidance on workflow redesign, technology integration costs, and financial costs, recoveries and related implications. 

The Senior Finance Lead will utilize their in depth financial accounting & planning acumen, extensive analysis skills, “big picture” business knowledge and corporate & project experience to represent finance and be an integral partner to supporting teams, working groups, and the financial planning team, working with and adapting to a diverse audience of stakeholders. 

They will take a proactive role in engaging fellow financial advisor colleagues on initiatives and projects tied to the advisor’s respective programs, driving the development of the team’s expertise while fostering a collaborative environment. In close partnership with the Manager, FP&A Support Services they will provide clear direction and oversight to advisors, ensuring tasks are assigned effectively and aligned with principles and expectations of the Finance leadership team.

 

Key Qualifications:

 

  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Analysis: Proven experience in building and utilizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models to evaluate the long-term financial impact of assets, projects, and investments, going beyond initial purchase prices to include operating, maintenance, and capital costs

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management: Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clear communication on complex financial and business matters tailored to the audience.

  • Contractual & Financial Acumen: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, summarize, and assess the financial and business impacts of various legal documents, including partnership contracts, funding agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

  • Strong abilities & abundant experience to gather complex data, organize information between stakeholders, analyze business performance and lead a summary and communication of next steps to stakeholders

  • Effective presentation skills with ability to focus on relevant information and vary their style based on audience and desired outcomes

  • Strong leadership skills including effective communication and the confidence to voice opinions and share knowledge

  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, able to operate independently in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple priorities effectively

  • Skilled to observe, recognize and engage team members to identify gaps in knowledge or learning opportunities; utilizing these observations to independently build learning plans, workshops, and tools to support learning/processes, and providing feedback loops to Finance leadership to stay aligned

  • Advanced critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, identify key issues and develop well-informed strategic solutions

  • Experience and thorough understanding of MOH Reporting, Funding Models, Benchmarking practices, with an MIS Guidelines certification an asset

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, intricate hospital financial costing, large scale financial project planning & resource allocation approaches, analytical, modelling, problem solving, and metric building skills

  • Completion of a professional designation program (CPA) is an asset with a minimum 8 years of related progressive experience or equivalent

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, maintain, and refine complex financial models to evaluate investment scenarios and forecast financial performance

  • Ensure the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial projections and reports, reducing risk and improving informed decision-making

  • Utilize proficiency in accounting principles to review and analyze intricate financial statements and general ledgers for comprehensive analysis

  • Present model outputs and strategic recommendations clearly to senior leadership using data to drive key business initiatives.

  • Build clear and effective communication channels and documented workflows between project teams, senior leadership, financial planning team leaders, and finance colleagues to meet project financial-related deliverables and build awareness of impacts

  • Build continuous improvement models and adapt financial processes as environments, funding, and timelines continually change; educating project leaders and impacted program leaders & supports 

  • Working directly with VPs & Directors, assist Clinical & Enabling Senior teams in managing project priorities, expectations and strategies between themselves & corporate and formulate associated strategic action plans
