The Application Services Director, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for the strategic leadership, delivery, and operational excellence of all enterprise applications across the bank. This role oversees application services, support, integration, vendor management, and modernization efforts to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable systems that meet business, regulatory, and customer needs. This position partners closely with business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors to drive innovation, enhance digital capabilities, and support the bank’s strategic objectives.
This position is in-office at our Operations Center located in West Allis, WI.
Responsibilities
- Inspire and empower a high-performing team through mentorship, recognition, and a culture of continuous growth.
- Oversee the development, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of all banking applications—including core banking systems, digital channels, loan origination and processing, and back office platforms.
- Drive transformation by aligning enterprise applications with evolving business needs—ensuring agility, security, and long-term scalability.
- Champion collaboration across departments to deliver seamless, member-first solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Maximize value from technology vendors and software partners through strategic relationship management and cost optimization.
- Bridge the gap between application services, technology and business by communicating complex ideas with clarity and purpose.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, technology, experience – work to strategically implement improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive IT, Application Management or Project Management leadership, including managing enterprise applications and cross-functional teams.
- Proven success leading large-scale IT and Application Services integrations, operations and transformation—especially in regulated environments like financial services.
- Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or vendor-specific credentials are highly valued.
- Knowledge of core banking systems, digital platforms, and fintech integrations is a strong plus.
- Experience working with third party vendors like FIS, Alkami, MANTL, and Glia is a plus.Expertise in application lifecycle management, software development methodologies, and integration technologies (API, middleware).
- Strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight.
- Proficient knowledge of general banking compliance laws and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advise employees and senior management regarding complex issues and to influence peers and colleagues.
- Ability to effectively identify and communicate necessary system and process related issues or flaws to mitigate regulatory risk, provide world-class customer service, and to perform regulatory testing and monitoring.
- Demonstrate superior leadership, talent development, and operational effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills a must.
- Must be self-motivated to work on projects, meet deadlines, write reports, policies, etc. independently.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
