In this role

 

You will lead the People & Culture (P&C) Branch, responsible for creating a culture that puts customer at the centre, people at the heart and works together for the greater good. P&C plans and prepares for future workforce requirements, unlocks the potential of our people through skills and capability development, ensures reporting obligations, compliance and people risk management requirements are met and creates workplaces with greater flexibility and collaboration.
 
You will encompass genuine executive accountability and sit on the executive leadership team, driving the people agenda for an organisation of more than 11,000 staff. You will provide executive leadership and direction to the People and Culture portfolio to deliver critical outcomes for Sydney Trains. You will provide high quality strategic and tactical advice, practices, systems and governance frameworks and direct the efficient and effective delivery of workforce solutions and services.
 
As the Head of People & Culture you will lead and direct functional teams of subject matter experts across all key workstreams within P&C with a significant focus on workforce strategy, employee relations, workforce planning and resource management, business partnering, workforce capability and training and competency. The role is also accountable for managing the interface and service provision from TfNSW for internal communications.

About you


You are an experienced human resources leader looking for an opportunity to contribute to a world class railway within an organisation that is subject to high levels of public scrutiny:

 

  • Ideally you will be tertiary qualified and will have public and private sector frontline workforce experience at a senior leadership level focused on people and culture strategies.
  • You will bring deep experience in building workforce capabilities and strategies, have a strong understanding of resource management and rostering, deep employee relations skills, and have strong insight and experience in people change and restructuring.
  • You will have deep experience handling highly sensitive and high-profile workforce issues which considers diverse agendas and interests, including government policy; commercial and community requirements:  community interests; and political and industrial impacts.
  • You possess a deep understanding of the unions, political landscape and industrial implications and understand how to build, shape, and solve to achieve outcomes.
  • Advanced advocacy and interpersonal communication skills with an intuitive ability to understand and drive performance, productivity, and engagement via innovative approaches to deliver major infrastructure and structural reform
  • You will have demonstrated experience building, leading, motivating and setting strategic direction of very accomplished teams.
  • You will have a commercial acumen and have experience designing and implementing business strategies, plans, and programs to drive workforce relationships.
  • You be adept at engaging at all levels including executive stakeholders, conveying solutions to complex matters
  • You are an influencer with strong conceptual and strategic thinking
