Our Warehouse and Community Associate / Warehouse Workers:
- Oversee warehouse operations in support of the Common Spirit grocery store, onsite at Mercy Retirement and Care Center.
- Stocks store daily, ensuring selected products reflect USDA good food guidelines (protein, whole grains, dairy, and assortment of fruits and vegetables).
- Keep store stocked throughout the open hours, 10-2, M-F.
- Assist in store operations as needed.
- Pack produce as needed at Chapman warehouse and coordinate with Field Operations Manager to distribute MBBP to individual households.
- Check and maintain accurate logs including daily temperatures of refrigerator and freezer.
- Note weight, date and temperature of incoming food.
- Clean warehouse and delivery trucks as needed; maintain and update cleaning schedule.
- Drive MBBP van or vehicles or pick up donations, including driving Class B and C trucks.
- Assist drivers/Community Coordinators, including filling in, as needed.
- Prepare accurate documentation to support inventory efforts, including food bank receipts, delivery slips, other records per program requirements.
- Maintain safety/cleanliness requirements of Alameda County AAA, ACCFB, FEMA, USDA, OSHA and MRCC.
- Assist Director with site inspections and visits as needed.
- Attend in-service education programs , staff events, and other trainings/functions as assigned.
- Notify supervisor of any safety issues, unforeseen delays, recipient concerns or grievances.
- Verify cargo amounts and complete bills of lading and donor receipts.
- Inspect product donations, notify supervisor whenever the quality of a product is questionable, and reject donations that do not meet quality standards.
- Ensure food safety standards and protocols are followed.
- Notify supervisor of any unforeseen delays.
- Maintain relations with donors and agencies by being cooperative and respectful at all times. Report any issues with pick-ups or deliveries.
- Protect Food Bank assets, taking precautions to protect store, truck, food, or other property; report any damages incurred in a timely manner.
- Report all accidents immediately and gather the necessary information contained on the Accident Report Forms.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or as a driver; comfortable driving 14 to 20 ft. commercial trucks.
- Valid California Class C License and a clear, insurable driving record for back-up driving roles.
- Prior experience with manual or electric pallet jacks.
- Comfort with GPS and routing systems.
- Able to ensure compliance with MBBP regulations, while fulfilling duties.
- Mechanical ability to perform truck maintenance (pre- and post-trip vehicle checks) and to identify needed repairs and maintenance.
- Basic English communication skills, including reading, writing and speaking.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with donors and Food Bank staff.
- Basic arithmetic abilities.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Must obtain a cleared Criminal Record check through the Department of Social Services prior to engaging with the community. Health screening and TB test results must be current, no older than 6 months.
- Current First Aid Training and Certifications or ability to complete first aid course within 6 months of hire.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb, step up in and out of vehicle.
