This position is an onsite role based in Plano, TX 

Who we are looking for: 

 

The Principal Cloud Architect is responsible for the full cloud architecture and implementation lifecycle process that translates business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure cloud-based systems, services, and solutions. This role requires expertise in cloud infrastructure design, deployment automation, and platform integration as this role is responsible for crafting technical solutions to address complex business needs in cloud environments. 

 

The Principal Cloud Architect will collaborate with business and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into detailed cloud architecture, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps for development and operations teams. They must possess deep technical expertise in cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), distributed computing, data/database solutions in the cloud, and cloud-native application development, with experience in multi-cloud strategy and governance. A background in enterprise-scale cloud migrations and relevant platform or domain expertise is preferred. 

What you be doing: 

  • Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Design secure, scalable, cost-effective cloud solutions. Build multi-account strategies. Assess new technologies for adoption. 

  • Security & Governance: Create IAM frameworks with least privilege. Implement layered security. Monitor costs and enforce governance. 

  • Automation & DevOps: Lead infrastructure-as-code. Establish CI/CD pipelines aligned with DevOps best practices for automated deployments. 

  • Hybrid Connectivity: Integrate on‑prem with cloud. Ensure strong performance and security. 

  • Application Modernization: Guide teams on cloud-native design and microservices. Improve scalability and resilience. 

  • Documentation & Roadmaps: Produce clear diagrams, docs, and implementation roadmaps for cloud transformation. 

 

What you bring: 

  • 15+ years in software engineering with proven high-impact product delivery, including 5+ years specifically in complex AWS cloud architecture and implementation 

  • AWS Core Infrastructure & Compute: Expert-level knowledge of AWS compute and container services (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Fargate), and storage solutions (S3, EBS, Storage Gateway) 

  • AWS Data & Database Technologies: Advanced proficiency with AWS database services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and Redshift for enterprise-scale data management 

  • AWS Networking & Security: Deep expertise in VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, and comprehensive security services including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, and Security Hub 

  • Infrastructure Automation & DevOps: Advanced experience with Terraform for AWS infrastructure automation  

  • Monitoring, Observability & Cost Optimization: Proven expertise with AWS monitoring tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray, CloudTrail) and demonstrated ability to implement cost optimization strategies using Cost Explorer, Budgets, and Savings Plans 

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to explain complex technical concepts to diverse technical and business audiences 

Added bonus if you have: 

  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional preferred; additional AWS certifications valued (DevOps, Security, Networking).

  • Proven experience mentoring teams on AWS best practices 

  • Experience with migrating or transforming large legacy solutions to the cloud. 

  • A college degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
