Software Development Manager

To retain and develop top talent, we foster a work environment that celebrates creativity, encourages skill development, and enables multidisciplinary collaboration.</p> <p><strong>What will you bring to the team.</strong></p> <p>Toshiba is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager who will be responsible for leading a department of direct reports that will include 12-14 software developers.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include guiding and supporting the team throughout the development and successful deployment of new product releases, optimizing development processes and team efficiencies, challenging the team technically and participating in scrum and code reviews, managing capacity and personnel matters plus effectively growing technical skills and evaluating performance with data.</p> <p>This position requires previous software development experience (writing code in Java) and usage of AI tools to optimize processes. We are looking for someone with extensive people management experience to carry out the responsibilities for project activities across a broad and cross-functional team.</p> <p><strong>What will you be doing:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Delivery of high-quality product releases and functionality.</li> <li>Managing the performance of the development team ensuring product commitments are met.</li> <li>Provide clear prioritization of objectives, timely and appropriate communication, and continuous demonstration of ownership and accountability</li> <li>Create a highly collaborative, productive and efficient work environment</li> <li>Collaborate closely with product owners</li> <li>Enabling the development and support of an innovative product.</li> <li>Promote continuous process improvement. Ensuring Agile/SAFe practices are applied and followed.</li> <li>Driving the team through scrum participation.</li> <li>Reviewing the code to ensure proper coding practices are followed.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Naturally to be successful in this role, you must have and know of:</strong></p> <ul> <li>BS or Master’s Degree in computer science, software development, or related field.</li> <li>+8 years of professional experience.&nbsp;</li> <li style="font-weight: bold;"><strong>Previous hands-on software development experience with Java and some knowledge or usage of AI.</strong></li> <li>Experience in managing software development teams and projects in Agile methodologies.</li> <li>People management experience including performance management, motivation, career development and dealing with conflict.</li> <li>Ability to demonstrate code review capabilities.</li> <li>Full understanding of the software development lifecycle and bring a product to production.</li> <li>Fluent in English.</li> <li>Good analytic and logical problem solving skills.</li> <li>Strong collaborative and teaming skills.</li> <li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred skills:</strong></p> <ul> <li>SAFe experience.</li> <li>Understanding of Test Automation and Test-Driven Development.</li> </ul> <p><strong>We offer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hired directly by Toshiba and 100% under payroll.</li> <li>Benefits of the law (IMSS, INFONAVIT)</li> <li>Life insurance, major medical expenses with dental and visual coverage.
