At Torngat Metals, we are developing the Strange Lake project to meet the urgent global demand for responsibly sourced rare earths that are essential to the energy transition. We are currently seeking talented individuals who are eager to contribute to our highly strategic project and play a role in shaping a resilient and responsible rare earth industry in Canada.

Torngat Metals is seeking a qualified Corporate Environmental Compliance Advisor to join its team located in Montreal. Reporting to the Director, Environment, Health and Safety, this position supports environmental permit applications and is responsible for developing and maintaining the permit register. The role also includes broader environmental compliance activities and will evolve as the project advances toward the operational phase.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Support environmental permitting activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements – federal permits and provincial permits (Labrador and Quebec).
  • Collaborate with consultants to oversee the preparation, submission, and follow-up of studies and reports required for permit applications and other environment-related deliverables.
  • Improve, maintain and update the environmental permit register.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for permitting purposes.
  • Develop and maintain a compliance matrix outlining commitments and conditions associated with permits.  
  • Develop and deliver training on environmental plans, policies, and SOPs to strengthen environmental awareness among operations teams.
  • Conduct routine environmental inspections at project sites. 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally within the mining sector or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Positive, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Solid knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial environmental regulations, including Québec and Labrador.
  • Proven experience managing federal and provincial environmental permitting processes.
  • Proficiency with standard office software applications (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluency in English; French proficiency is required.
