The Toast POS (point-of-sale) app is the central pillar of Toast’s restaurant products. Millions of servers, hosts, bartenders, and chefs use Toast’s POS daily to serve their guests! 

Toast is looking for a mid level Fullstack Engineer to join our Kiosk team. This team is responsible for owning the Kiosk product, a guest facing Android tablet that enables self-ordering and payment at restaurants. The Kiosk team recently rolled out a new Kiosk experience to all Toast restaurants, and now we are looking to further enhance Kiosk by adding new features that will improve the guest experience and increase restaurant operational efficiency. New features require new updates to how a restaurant configures their Kiosk, and this Fullstack Engineer role will involve the ownership and development of Toast’s Kiosk configuration web page, where restaurant owners configure their Kiosk devices.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

• Work collaboratively with UX, PM, QA and other engineers building the Kiosk configuration webpage using modern frontend and backend technologies (React, Tailwind, GraphQL and Storybook).


• Develop and maintain Kiosk configuration workflows, creating a seamless and intuitive user experience.


• Adhere to best practices such as quality integration and unit testing.


• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design and prototyping to deployment and maintenance.


• Provide technical guidance and support through code reviews and design discussions.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

• Experience with Fullstack development using some or all of these technologies: React, GraphQL, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Protobuf, Microservices, AWS


• Proficient with traditional databases and alternative data stores


• Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics


• Proficient in Software Development best practices (Code Quality, UnitTest, BDD)


• Experience delivering high-quality, reliable services to production
