Health and Welfare:  $8.92 - $11.73/hr up to 40 hours per week to be used towards benefit premiums

Scope of Work:

The Irrigation Repair Person maintains irrigation system for grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, greenhouses, and athletic fields, and repairs equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced irrigation system repair work, to include locating and troubleshooting existing water lines to detect area of failure and determine if systems are functioning properly and efficiently. 
  • Assist in the repair or replacement of such items as broken, leaky or corroding above and below ground level lines, pumps and valves; perform minor repair work, as necessary, on clogged irrigation plumbing equipment, such as controllers and valves, wiring and heads. 
  • Perform functional and performance checks of back flow preventions’, meters and gauges, taking necessary corrective action to include maintenance and repair; perform tests to ensure adherence to pertinent city codes; maintain records as required. 
  • Service, clean and check for efficiency of valves, heads, nozzles and drains of irrigation systems; perform start up and shut down procedures, as required. 
  • Snow removal during the snow season.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Prefer an individual with a minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in utility trades. 
  • Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience. 
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check. 
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.  
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts during weather events to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.  
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

 

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • On a continuous basis, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, walking on uneven surfaces for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to communicate with co-workers using a two-way radio; use telephone, and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction. 
  • Work is performed in outdoor environments. Some work is performed with exposure to low to loud noise level; frequent fieldwork is required with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and the external environment; tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces and the use of other safety equipment to gain access to hard-to-reach locations; some work is performed in crawl spaces. Some work may require exposure to dust, particulates, unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances and electricity.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts during weather events to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
