About this role

As a Mechanical Assembler - Drivetrain, you will fit and assemble components according to engineering diagrams and documents to build sub-assemblies for heavy forestry equipment. To excel in this role, a combination of technical skills is required, including both problem solving and mechanical aptitude.

 

Location: 95 Washburn Drive, Kitchener, ON

Dedicated Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday

 

Job Duties

  • Read and follow diagrams, drawings, specifications, bills of material, parts lists, and instructions to accurately assemble components.
  • Utilize hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete assembly tasks.
  • Operate lifting devices such as jib cranes to complete assembly installations.
  • Test and check electrical assemblies and wiring for proper connections. 
  • Repair or replace defective assemblies, components, and accessories.
  • Ensure meticulous assembly through fit and alignment.
  • Verify equipment functions and quality standards to prevent faulty products from reaching customers.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members.
  • Good level of manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination is required.
  • Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience working with gears, engines and hydraulics is preferred.
  • Previous related experience maintaining or repairing recreational vehicles, landscaping equipment, small engine repair, pre-apprenticeship training or other general construction/trades courses will also be considered.
  • Experience reading blueprints or assembly drawings is an asset.
